LIT Foundations
An 8-week guided journey for Location Independent Therapists
Build (or strengthen) the foundations of your online practice with clarity, structure, and the support of an international community of colleagues.
Starts September 2026 • Included in your LIT Community membership
Are you struggling to know where to start with your online therapy practice?
Or feeling like you’re way behind everyone else with launching or growing your online practice?
Maybe you’re already working online, but you’re finding it hard to connect with your ideal clients?
Or perhaps your marketing that used to work just isn’t bringing in enough clients now?
There is no shortage of business advice online. But most of it wasn’t created for mental health professionals, and even less so for those of us working internationally. And once you’ve sifted through all the information out there, it can be difficult to know what to focus on, which order to do things in, and what your next step should be.
That’s exactly why we created LIT Foundations.
Rather than leaving you to piece everything together on your own, LIT Foundations guides you through the key foundations of building a sustainable online therapy practice, one step at a time.
Over eight weeks, you’ll work through the areas that matter most, putting what you learn into action, alongside a group of like-minded colleagues. Through practical resources, live guided sessions and Q&As, you’ll build clarity, make progress and create a stronger foundation for your business.
Whether you’re building your online practice for the first time or revisiting the foundations of an established business, LIT Foundations is designed to give you the structure, support and accountability to move forward with greater confidence.
Is this for you?
LIT Foundations is designed for therapists who are:
- Building an online practice for the first time.
- Or already seeing clients, but finding their marketing isn’t landing the way they hoped.
- Feeling stuck and unsure what to focus on next.
- Ready to clarify their niche or offer.
- Changing direction after moving countries or changing specialisms.
- Attracting clients, but not the right ones.
- Wanting dedicated time to work on their business instead of always working in it.
Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been in practice for years, strong foundations make every decision that follows a little easier.
What we’ll focus on over the eight weeks:
We’ve divided LIT Foundations into four sections, each spanning two weeks and building on the one before. Each week has a single focus, so there’s always one clear thing to work on rather than everything at once.
Part 1 · Your Why & Vision
- Week 1: Seeing yourself as a business owner, your why, and your longer-term vision
- Week 2: Setting goals, money mindset and the practical realities of running your own business
Part 2 · The Core of Your Business
- Week 3: Your ideal client and niche
- Week 4: Your offer: what you provide, in what format and packaging
Part 3 · Grow Your Visibility
- Week 5: Your message: what you stand for and what resonates with your ideal client
- Week 6: Choosing your marketing channels and building a realistic marketing plan
Part 4 · Bringing It All Together
- Week 7: Mapping your client journey, from first contact to first session
- Week 8: Reviewing where you stand and planning your next steps
What you’ll walk away with:
By the end of the eight weeks, you’ll have put the pieces together into a foundation you can actually build on:
- A clearer vision for your business
- A defined ideal client
- A stronger offer
- Messaging that speaks to your clients
- A practical marketing plan
- A clearer picture of your client journey
- A 90-day roadmap for your next steps
You won’t finish building your business in eight weeks, and that’s by design. Instead, you’ll leave with stronger foundations, greater clarity and a realistic plan for what comes next.
How it works:
Each 2-week section includes practical resources to work through at your own pace, a live guided session where we put ideas into practice together, and a live Q&A to answer your questions and keep you moving.
- Starts 21 September 2026 and runs for 8 weeks
- Welcome events on 16 September, at 10 am and 7 pm CE(S)T
- Recommended time commitment: Ideally around 4–5 hours per week. If you’re short on time, focus on the core exercise and catch up later
- Guided sessions run every other Wednesday, with two options each time: 10 am CE(S)T or 7 pm CE(S)T (See FAQ for how to convert to your time zone).
- Q&As run on the alternating Thursdays at 18:30 CE(S)T
- Join live or catch up with recordings
What if I don’t have much time?
We designed LIT Foundations to help you put things into action, rather than to just passively learn. That means you’ll need to have time to implement what you learn and decide, but you can also adapt it to suit your schedule and availability.
Our live events will guide you through the programme and provide some gentle accountability and momentum. Some weeks will require you to do go away and do more work than others (brainstorming, thinking, and implementing). Every session is recorded, so you can watch back whenever suits you. Even if you only have an hour in a given week, focusing on that week’s core exercise will allow you to keep making progress.
If you do get behind, don’t worry – you can dive in wherever we are. Plus, you’ll keep access to all the material for as long as you’re a member. So if you’re short on time, there will be plenty of opportunity to dive deeper and implement it later on, too.
Meet Your Guides
LIT Foundations is created and led by LIT co-founders Sonia Jaeger and Melissa Parks.
Since launching the LIT Community in 2020, we’ve supported hundreds of colleagues in building their online practices, and we kept seeing the same challenges come up again and again: not a lack of information, but a lack of a clear path through it. LIT Foundations brings together the guidance, structure and community we wish every therapist had when building an online practice.
LIT Foundations is part of the LIT Community:
LIT Foundations is a structured 8-week programme within the LIT Community that sets you up with strong business foundations on which you can continue to build.
From day one, you’re part of our international community of mental health professionals, with access to:
- Hot seat coaching sessions on business ideas, projects, or challenges
- Peer supervision groups to help support your clinical work and get fresh perspectives on how to approach and support your clients
- Business meetups for skill-building and discussions on important topics
- Quarterly reflection & planning sessions to check in on your progress and celebrate your wins
- LIT Talks: Skill/knowledge-sharing sessions to dive deeper into clinical topics
- Alternating book and movie clubs, discussed through the therapist lens
- Virtual coworking sessions for productivity and accountability
- Self-care sessions to make time for your well-being
After the 8 weeks of LIT Foundations comes to an end, you’ll still have access to all the LIT Foundations resources and replays to revisit at any time.
LIT Foundations gives you a structured starting point; the wider community is there as your business keeps growing and evolving.

FAQ:
Is LIT Foundations only for therapists who are just starting out?
No. It’s equally valuable for experienced therapists who want to revisit their foundations, refine their niche, strengthen their marketing, or realign their business with where they are today.
What time are the events?
Here are the times and dates for the LIT Foundations events:
- Our welcome parties will take place on September 15th at 10 am CEST and 7 pm CEST (Paris)*
- Our live guided sessions will take place on Wednesdays, September 23, October 7 and 21 and November 7. We’ll offer two sessions, one at 10 am CE(S)T (Paris) and 7 pm CE(S)T (Paris)*
- Our live Q&As will take place on Thursdays, October 1, 15, and 29 and November 12 at 6:30 pm CEST (Paris)*
*You can check the time in your location by using Worldtimebuddy.com: Enter the CEST (Paris) time and it will convert it to your local time zone. Please take note of Daylight Saving Time changes and make sure you select the correct date so it can account for this.
Can existing members take part?
Yes. Existing members are very welcome, either working through the full programme or dipping into the sessions and discussions that feel most relevant.
Is the scholarship available for LIT Foundations?
Yes, scholarship recipients get access to the full LIT Foundations programme and everything else included in the LIT Community. Find out more here.
When can I join?
You can join at any point as the LIT Community doors are always open. However, we’d highly recommend joining by mid-September so you can take part in our welcome/kickoff event on September 15 and get the most out of LIT Foundations. If you join before LIT Foundations starts, this is a great opportunity to come along to some of our events, watch a replay, and get to know your fellow members. If you join after LIT Foundations starts, you can catch up by doing the core exercises from each week to quickly catch up, and dive in with the live events at whichever point we’re at.
How much time should I expect to spend each week?
Around 4–5 hours (including events) if you want to work through everything, but there’s no minimum. Some weeks will be busier than others, and that’s fine. Sessions are recorded, and even an hour spent on the week’s core exercise will allow you to make progress where it matters most.
What if I miss a live session?
All sessions are recorded, so you can catch up in your own time. You’ll maintain access to the content and recordings for as long as you are a member of the LIT Community.
What happens after the eight weeks?
Your LIT Community membership continues as normal. You keep access to the LIT Foundations material and the session recordings, so you can revisit anything or catch up on parts you moved through quickly, and you keep access to the wider community, live events and ongoing support as you continue building your practice.
