You’ll hear why Eugene values location independence, how he got started working online with clients, and what this lifestyle means for him. Or you can read our summary below the video.

Introducing Eugene Belilovsky – Remote Therapist

Eugene is an Integrative Counsellor who aims to bring a progressive approach to online counselling and wellness. Originally from Ukraine, Eugene is now mostly based in New York State and offers therapy in English and Russian.

How does Eugene work with his clients?

Eugene approaches his work holistically, using a variety of approaches depending on his clients’ needs. Some of these more holistic approaches include mindfulness, non-religious spirituality, and concepts from health coaching.

Eugene has found working online to be beneficial both to himself and to many clients who find remote therapy more convenient and accessible than an in-person setting.

Who does Eugene work with?

In his work, Eugene supports his clients with challenges such as anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, trauma, and other concerns. However, clients who are looking to work on self-improvement are also welcome.

Eugene uses a range of approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Including Exposure and Response Prevention), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, mindfulness/awareness, non-religious spirituality/transpersonal, and concepts from Health Coaching.

Additionally, Eugene welcomes and is allied with communities such as LGBTQ, polyamorous, single by choice, asexual, sex workers, and those in open relationships, among others. Another one of his areas of interest is working with expats and digital nomads.

How did Eugene start out as a remote therapist?

When Eugene was finishing grad school, he was already interested in the idea of working with clients online – even if it wasn’t that popular or well-known at the time.

Then, Covid came along at around the same time as he graduated, and it suddenly felt like everyone went online. This helped to speed up the process and so after graduating, Eugene began working online and has continued to do so.

How has the LIT Community helped him?

Eugene has found it really rewarding to be part of a community of like-minded people. While the location-independent lifestyle is becoming more popular, it can still sometimes feel like you’re the exception, especially if you don’t know anyone else who is on a similar path in life.

The LIT Community makes it possible to connect with colleagues with similar mindsets – as even though they’re out there, it’s not always easy to find each other. Having the extra support from within the community is another huge benefit for Eugene, especially when you’re trying something new, so you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Finally, Eugene has also loved having access to the various resources available within the community.
