Hi, I’m Chu Hui, aka Dr. Cha. Welcome to my page. I’m glad you’re here.
I’m a licensed psychologist and former expat. Earlier this year, I returned to the US after a year of nomading around Europe and I’m eager to weave my experiences and insight into therapy to help others cope, learn, and grow. It takes a lot of strength and courage to live abroad and I know it takes even more strength and courage to recognize when you need some additional support during your journey.
I offer some unique perspectives as a therapist. I’m Korean American and my lived experience between/within two cultures helps me relate to expats, international people, adult immigrants, and third culture people in an authentic way. I also grew up in an interracial family and am familiar with the strengths and challenges of a multicultural family. As a psychologist, I have a research background on BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) mental health and have published in peer-reviewed journals.
My practice is primarily focused on members of the Asian diaspora but I’m hoping to grow my expat clientele. On my website, I offer a special package for expats/nomads that is significantly discounted. I also offer free first-time consultations for people who’d like to feel things out to see if we’re a good fit.
I’m glad you’re thinking about seeking therapy with someone who really gets you. A good fit is so important in psychotherapy. I hope I can be part of your journey to greater happiness and well-being. Take care and safe travels.
