Bio

Are you looking to make changes in your life or struggling with a PhD? If so, we might be a good fit. I’m Nina—counselor, social scientist and clown—and I offer online counseling to two groups of people: those who want to change their lives, and PhD students. I offer counseling in English and German.

Online Counseling for People Who Want to Change Their Life

Do you want to change your life? Try out something new? Leave the rat race and dive into a life that’s truly yours? Work less, work differently, spend more time on your favorite activities and with the people you love? That all sounds great, but you haven’t figured out exactly what you want or how to get there—you just know it’s time to make some changes! No worries, I’m here to support you on your journey. Together we’ll dream some more, we’ll consider and reconsider, and step by step you’ll build the life that you want.

Online Counseling for PhD Students

Are you currently working on your PhD, but you feel stuck or like you don’t have any spare time? Your supervisor is never available when you need them, you’re wondering what comes after the PhD, or you’re currently going crazy doing fieldwork. Maybe you’re struggling with perfectionism, writer’s block, headaches, or lack of sleep. Whatever it may be—I can offer you support in just about anything that comes with working on a PhD. And we will also look at how you can have a life you can enjoy in spite of that PhD (which might even make your research and writing easier).

About me

I have changed my life quite a few times, and I hold a PhD, too—and yes, at times, I’ve struggled with both. I’ve lived in Germany, the Philippines, Mexico, and the UK, and I’ve worked in development, academia, and publishing. Nowadays I also work as a clown doctor. I hold a Master’s in Economics and a PhD in Political Science, and I completed my training in „Integrative Psychotherapy“ at the Mainz Institute for Psychotherapy and Adult Education. I like dancing, juggling, making music, and writing.

What it’s like to work with me

In supporting you, I draw on systemic, resource- and solution-oriented methods. I also integrate my views as a clown into my counseling—a clown is always in the present moment, practices trial and error, and approaches life with curiosity. I am empathetic and open, and I appreciate you and everything you bring to our sessions.

If you’re interested in working with me, please get in touch, and we’ll set up a free video call to get to know each other. I look forward to hearing from you.
